VH is a surprisingly open–world game (especially once you are allowed to travel freely in and out of Hot Spring Town), and most quests can be completed in almost any order. For smooth progression in the game, it's recommended that you complete the first six quests in the order that they are listed in the Adventurer Guild's Request Notebook (it should be the same order as listed above).

When your character first arrives at Hot Spring Town, only the West Gate of Hot Spring Town is always open. After you complete the Goblin Extermination quest, the North Gate will become open. The other two gates will remain closed, with the exception of when you have a quest. The South Gate will remain blocked until your character reaches Level 10. After completing the Rescue Ashley quest, not only will the East Gate become permanently opened for you, but you will also be able to ride the horse train to and from the Capital for free. However, based on the prices of [[VH/Items & Equipment|equipment]] at the shops of various towns, it is actually best to visit some of the other towns before traveling to the {{VHl|Capital}}.

Once your character has reached Level 10, you can go south to visit {{VHl|Barqahasa}}. There's not much to do in Barqahasa events–wise, but you can visit the armor vendor to upgrade your equipment (including buying some semi-sheer pantyhose), and also rent a swimsuit and go to the beach. Then, simply use your Portable Portal to teleport back to Hot Spring Town. Next, head west to {{VHl|Grihastha}} to complete the quests there, and possibly upgrade your equipment.
