The food that your slaver eats is one of the most important factors in maintaining your Strength. Without proper meals your slaver will lose Strength daily and while there are methods to prevent this decay they aren't viable long term strategies for growing and maintaining high strength levels.
Dinning Out
Eating in the city is generally cheaper than cooking at home but there are some trade-offs to consider. Here's a list of all the available restaurants:
- Quarter of the Outcasts:
- (S+) 8$ Go to a restaurant reward;
- Quarter of the Bull:
- (A+) Free* Rest and relax at the Gentleman's Club;
- Serpentine Quarter:
- (B+) 5$ meals at the Virgin Hip;
- (C-) 3$ meals at the Virgin Hip.
*Note: The cost of eating at the Club is included in the increase in standard of living expenses (membership fees). When adjusting for the amount that the slaver would otherwise spend on home cooked food (cheapest A+ recipe), this cost is around 2,6$ to 12,6$.
The player should keep in mind that:
- If you don't live in the quarter that you're eating in or you don't have the Bull Ring you will spend 1/2 energy traveling there (5 energy in a decade);
- While the player will get 1/2 energy from the interaction, go to the restaurant is a 5 merit reward so it's not a reliable way for the slaver to eat S+ meals daily;
- You're technically not eating the cheapest possible meals for most food tiers with the exception of A+ tier;
- You'll have to micromanage your meals.
Cooking
Cooking is one of the most reliable ways to make sure that your slaver gets proper meals on time. While it is generally more expensive than eating, cooking has several benefits that eating out doesn't and this is before factoring in any sort of minmaxing or cost reduction strategies.
The benefits of eating at home include:
- Extra mood from eating quality home cooked food (either at your Strength or Personality levels, whichever is higher);
- Leveling Strength if the quality of the food exceeds your Strength level (possible up to A+ Strength with S+ food);
- Helping you recover from injuries;
- Cost savings.
When the slaver or a slave cooks it isn't possible to decide what they cook. Nonetheless what the character is able to cook is contingent on:
- Their cooking skill;
- Available ingredients;
- Mood.
Note: A character will only cook up to the level of their mood. This is one of the most common reasons for why meals might be of an inferior quality than what would otherwise be expected.
