In Honey Select, girls experience different kinds of feelings toward the protagonist, and those will fluctuate during gameplay depending on the girls characteristics and the player actions.

The most dominant of those feelings will determine the state of the girl, which will dictate her relationship and attitude toward the protagonist.


Feelings and state

There are four main feelings in Honey Select (Favour, Desire, Aversion and Subordination) as well as a fifth "special" feeling that represents the girl's mental sanity (Destruction).

Each feeling is represented by a specific colour and is defined by a numerical value ranging from 0 to 100, that we will refer as its level. Those levels are independant from each other : a girl can simultanneously have a high level of Aversion and a high level of Favour toward the protagonist (even if it will rarely happen).

It is important to note that only the strongest feeling will have an actual impact in the game : a girl can have a lot of hate toward the protagonist (high aversion), as long as she loves him slightly more (higher favour), she will act like she's madly in love with him.

This dominant feeling will condition the state of the girl. This state is symbolised by a smiley face shown on the girl's status screen, with its colour matching the corresponding feeling :

State calculation

The state of the girl is determined by the feeling that has the highest level, at the condition that this level is above 50.

If none of the feeling levels is above 50, the girl's state will be shown as "Normal" and represented by a green smiley face on her status screen. This mainly happens when creating a new girl without any strong sentiment toward the protagonist, or after "healing back" a girl that was previously broken.

If two or more feelings have the same level, the state of the girl will be determined by a priority system depending on her personality (read further below).


Maximum level state

When reaching the maximum level (100) in a certain feeling, the state will update again. The smiley face that represents it will change slightly and the state text will appear in red.

Reaching maximum level will unlock achievements that allows to create characters that starts with higher feeling levels.


Destruction level and the "broken" state

The Destruction Level is an exception to the above rules. It is a really special kind of feeling that represents the sanity of the girl, and it has its own specific mechanics.

It is also the only feeling that is explicitely displayed : you can easily monitor a girl's level of destruction thanks to the red gauge shown on her status screen.

The Broken State is also an exception to the rules : this state can only be achieved when the Destruction Level reaches its maximum (100). It then takes precedence on any other state, even if another feeling has also reached its maximum level.

Once a girl is broken, she won't return to normal as long as this destruction level is not back at its minimum (0), whatever the level of any other feeling.


Feelings priority

It may happen that a girl has the exact same level in more than one feeling, especially when reaching their maximum (100). In this case, the state of the girl will be determined depending on her personality, since each personality has different affinity toward those feelings, and thus different priority when calculating their state.

Those priority strongly influences the positions that need to be choosen to attain a specific goal. Most of the positions increase two feelings at once, and you have to take care not to use a position that would also increase a feeling that has a higher priority than the one you're trying to max out.

For example, if you want to reach the "Max Love" state (maximum Favour level) with an easygoing girl, you have to take care not to use positions that both raise Favour and Desire (yellow and red background), since her natural lewdness would give the "Horny" state priority over the "Love" state. To attain this state, you'll have no other choice than to use positions that raise Favour and Subordination (yellow and purple background), since Subordination has a lower priority than Favour for this kind of character.


Character creation and starting levels

When you create a new female character, she will starts with a certain amount of points depending on the choosen personality and her sentiment toward the protagonist.

Those extra points can sum up to 95 in any feeling, allowing to easily reach max status with this character. It is also possible to create a character that has the "Broken" status right from the start.


Influence of personality

Each type of personality starts with different levels. Those can go up to 15 in a specific feeling :

The "Sentiment" characteristic

When creating a new female character, you can also assign her a "Sentiment" that will add some more points to the feeling level she starts with. Since most of those Sentiment gives more than 50 points of a specific feeling, those will also change the state the girl starts in.

Some of those gives a really high amount of extra points and requires you to unlock an achievement to become available.

Earning points

Feelings will fluctuate during gameplay. At the end of each H-Session, the girl will evaluate your performance, and you will gain or lose levels depending on her current state and the type of position you used the most.

On top of this evaluation, you will also gain or lose extra feeling points depending on the girl personality and her H attributes.


H Evaluation

The parameter that will have the biggest impact on the number of points you earn is the kind of positions you used the most during the H-Session. There are currently 8 types of positions in Honey Select, and you can determine its type by looking at the colours that appears as a background when selecting a position.

The outcome will then be weighted depending on the state the girl is currently in. With the following particularity : you won't earn points in the feeling associated with the current state.

This leads to some kind of diminishing returns. For example, a girl that is already in love with you (Love state) won't gain any Favour point at the end of her evaluation, even if you mainly choose positions with a yellow background. You will have to rely on other means (like bonus points) to actually raise her Favour toward maximum level.

On the contrary, losing points is really easy, especially Feeling Points that are associated with the current state. For example, a girl that is in the Love state will lose more than 15 Favour Points if you primarily select positions with a red, blue, or purple background. This can lead to really quick change of state, with girls going from lover to slave over a couple sessions.

H Attributes bonus

The bonus for H Attributes only applies when a certain condition is met. For example, a girl that is Sensitive to kisses will only gain extra points if you kissed her during the session.
