Is there a reason why "File:" is used instead of "Image:"? --trololove (talk) 21:20, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- "Image:" is legacy. MediaWiki supports usually multiple types of media (hence the name) and File: is the namespace used now. Image: is mapped to File for compatibility reasons. See here: Images that are stored on a MediaWiki server are usually rendered by using the
File:
namespace prefix (but the legacyImage:
namespace prefix is still supported as a synonym) as the target of a MediaWiki link. --hmoeller [ Talk - Contribs ] 21:46, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
