Ending the day with positive Guilt results in spoiling. Make sure to math the level of Guilt to the level of punishment. A punishment that exceeds the sin or a punishment for no reason at all increases Despair, while a punishment less severe than appropriate increases Spoiling. An appropriate level of punishment reduces Pride and increases Taming.
Punishment can also be unsuccessful if the slave doesn't fear it enough. In that case, her Fear, Habit, and Taming decrease, while her Nature increases. Conversely, too much fear of a punishment increases the slave's Fear stat and can lower her Empathy.
